Граффити как эпиграфические памятники дают информацию об истории существования письменности, просопографии, ономастики. Современные методы исследования граффити дают возможность проанализировать, какие социальные показатели чаще всего находили отражение в надписях. В статье рассматриваются различные граффити на стенах полоцкой Спасо-­Преображенской церкви, дающие представление о том, какое положение занимал их автор в обществе в период средневековья и нового времени (указываются его сан, должность, звание, профессия и даже временная должность, которую он получил во время учебы). Единственным критерием, определяющим источник для исследования, было дополнение к имени, размещенное в надписи, которое указывало на должность человека, его титул, род занятий. В монашеский период в граффити чаще всего упоминаются священники, реже настоятельницы, дьяконы и пономари. Существуют упоминания об архимандритах, митрополитах, епископах, монахах и монахинях. Из профессий упоминается только иконописец в связи со смертью его жены. В иезуитский период упоминаются четыре профессии: врач, солдат, коморник и ювелир. В некоторых надписях есть упоминание об ордене иезуитов. Анализ такого рода дополнений к именам показывает, что авторов больше интересовали локальная жизнь и события, происходившие в городе.

Self­realization in society is important for the individual. A person can manifest himself in different areas of life. The article combines various indicators of who a person was in society: rank, position, title, profession, and even a temporary position that he received during his studies. The only criterion is the addition to the name, which is in the inscription. She points to his position, title, occupation. In the monastic period, priests are mentioned most of all in graffiti, less – abbots, deacons, sexton. There are mentions of archimandrites, metropolitans, bishops, monks and nuns. Of the professions, an icon painter is mentioned in connection with the death of his wife. In the Jesuit period, four professions are mentioned: doctor, soldier, komornik, jeweller. In some inscriptions there is a reference to the Jesuit order. An analysis of such additions to names shows that the authors of the inscriptions were more interested in the local life that took place in the city.
