Establishment of cyclic musical form Sonata da chiesa in Italian instrumental music of XXYII - beginning XVIII ages
Abstract
Issues of establishing Sonata da chiesa as a genre and form of the Italian instrumental music of XVII and beginning of XVIII centuries have been considered in the article. Main focus is put on processes of its formation. Following steps in the development of da chiesa cyclic form have been provided: • early canzona sonata; • typical Corelli's model; • its adaptations to other genres. Also the author of the article makes conclusions about the role of Sonata da chiesa in works of most eminent Baroque composers including G.B. Vitali, T. A. Vitali, A. Corelli, H. Purcell, F. Couperin, H.I.F. von Biber, D. Buxtehude, J.S. Bach, G.F. Handel, and others.
