THE LINGUISTIC STATUS OF THE CATEGORY OF DEFINITENESS/INDEFINITENESS IN THE BELARUSIAN LANGUAGE

Abstract

The article describes the status of the category of definiteness/indefiniteness in linguistics. This category is interdisciplinary. It is regarded in philosophy, mathematics, sociology, etc. There are different approaches to its study: the theory of actualization, the grammar of text, the functional grammar, the quantifier theory. The status of the category of definiteness and indefiniteness is grammatical in languages with articles. And this category is semantic, functional-semantic, conceptual, contextual and referential in languages without articles.
