Theatre as a mirror of culture: aesthetic principles and cultural specificities of the Chinese national theatre

Abstract

The article explores Chinese national theater as a unique phenomenon of world culture, reflecting the aesthetic principles and cultural specificity of China. It examines the historical origins, stages of development, and main genres of Chinese theater, such as Peking Opera (Jingju) and Kunqu. Special attention is paid to aesthetic principles, including symbolism, rhythmic organization, synthesis of arts, and orientation towards tradition, as well as their connection with Chinese philosophical and religious teachings. The influence of Chinese theater on world theatrical culture and its role in the modern cultural space are analyzed. The article emphasizes the importance of Chinese theater as a tool for preserving cultural heritage and fostering intercultural dialogue.
